A Beginning to This Website
Hello to whoever is reading this! I made this website myself, and in this concise blog post I want to explain a little.
How
I built this website with the help of a generative “AI” (Claude Fable 5) in 4 hours across 2 days. So all in all, not that much work. Although I usually frown at the usage of “AI”, I feel like in some situations it is justified. I have no interest in learning how to create a website, I just wanted one to update for my own whims. More about this is coming later, but I thought there was no use in trying to understand how it works, I just wanted to create something for myself. As I alluded to, it was actually pretty easy, and I enjoyed getting to do it. However, I’ve since shown this website to my parents and now they want their own. I have no intention in making this a business, so I might have just dug my own grave here a little bit.
Why
I read online that having a personal website is helpful for PhD applications, and I would totally love to do my PhD in a few years, so I decided to make it happen now rather than later. I figured that with more time up on the internet, if someone googles my name then this website would come to the top eventually.
There’s more than just that though, I want to create something that is like a public diary. I used to do this with a spam instagram account, and it was a lot of fun! But, now that I’m not on instagram as much anymore, I wanted to keep up the habit in a different way. I have no idea how much I will update this place, or what is to come of it in the future, and I also don’t really care. This is just going to be a place for me to be myself.
I guess if you are reading this and considering me for a spot in your lab, please let me in! Also how is the year 2029? (Jesus, that is too close to a new decade for my liking.)
